Completed on time, in just 15 months, Tonbridge School’s magnificent new £10.7 million Sports and Media Centre is ready to accommodate budding Olympiads from both the school and local community.
The Centre houses a new six-lane swimming pool, an indoor sports hall, a fitness suite, function room and a media suite that will allow the school to transmit live coverage of sports events.
Ray Hart OBE, Bursar of Tonbridge School, commented: “We have been delighted with the service provided by R Durtnell & Sons Limited, who have maintained one of the best-run construction sites I have experienced in 14 years as a Bursar. I would recommend them without reservation.”
The building is certainly distinctive and has indeed been described as 'futuristic' with a roof that gives the appearance of three waves moving from south to north and amazing colour contrasts.
