» Burlington Danes Academy
One of the Government’s flagship new City Academies, Burlington Danes is enjoying investment in important new facilities for the school. Located near to BBC Television Centre in White City, a new three storey high, 100 metre long by 15 metre wide, Key Stage 3 building is being constructed which will accommodate 16 classrooms, four laboratories and a number of ancillary offices, staff rooms and breakout areas. It has been designed by architects, Barnsley Hewett and Mallinson with a steel frame. The external finish will be a mixture of concrete panels and large areas of glazing with a full-height, glazed and faceted rotunda at each end equipped with large brize soleil to minimise solar gain. The Academy is sponsored by education charity, Absolute Return for Kids (ARK) Limited.
