» Elmore Abbey, Newbury

Durtnell was commissioned to build a new oratory constructed in oak with slate floor and shingle roof for an order of Anglican Benedictine monks, situated in Speen, near Newbury.

The contract also included construction of a substantial three-storey extension to the original Georgian building to provide an accommodation block for the abbey. The extension was built using recovered materials to blend with the existing Grade II building.
